De Zerbi In: Tottenham's Third Manager and My Third Transfer Mistake This Season
Right so Spurs have gone through THREE managers this season. THREE. Tudor lasted six weeks which is somehow longer than my captaincy picks have worked out. Now it's De Zerbi coming in to save them from RELEGATION. Tottenham Hotspur. Relegation battle. Seven games left.
What does this mean for us? Absolute chaos is what it means. New manager bounce is real but so is "new manager has no idea what his best XI is for three weeks." De Zerbi's Brighton were entertaining but this isn't Brighton, this is a dumpster fire in North London. Tactical overhaul incoming. Formation changes. Squad rotation that'll make your head spin. Every Spurs asset you own? You're guessing. GUESSING. Son could start. Son could be benched for "tactical reasons." Maddison might play as a false nine or get hooked at halftime. Absolutely shocking stuff.
Do you hold your Spurs players through this? If you've got Son or someone essential you're probably stuck with them anyway because selling now tanks your team value. But bringing anyone IN right now? Why would you do that to yourself? Wait at least two games to see what De Zerbi's actual system looks like. Monitor team news like your rank depends on it because it does.
Meanwhile Newcastle have backed Eddie Howe which means nothing changes there. Great. Consistent mediocrity. At least you know what you're getting with Isak and Gordon—they'll either haul or blank but the lineup's predictable.
And Cucurella might leave Chelsea for Barcelona which affects literally nobody in FPL because who owns Cucurella? If you've got Chelsea defensive coverage you're probably on Colwill or Gusto anyway. Defensive depth reduction sure but that's a Chelsea problem not an FPL problem unless they sign some budget enabler we all jump on.
If you do ONE thing today: Get your Spurs assets on your watchlist and prepare to move them if De Zerbi's first two games are a disaster. Seven games to save the season means desperation tactics and that could go either way.
Check fpltouchline.com for lineup leaks when De Zerbi's first team sheet drops—you'll need every edge you can get with this mess.
